World since 1945 an Example of the Topic History Essays by
World since 1945 Historian Paul Kennedy, in his article, The good old days of the cold war, asserts that the world was a far more dangerous place during the cold war. He backs up his arguments with instances during 1945-1990, which could have turned out to be catastrophic wars, potentially dangerous in their respective magnitudes and killing powers. This view cannot be agreed with. In fact, the world is far more dangerous today, than it was during the cold war. If the issue is checked from a broader perspective, then it is evident that the author is missing out on two important points. One, the growing resistance among populations of all nations to remain unified as one entity. Two, the ghastly development of the present day weapons, which are much more advanced in their destructive capacities, than the nuclear weapons. All over the world, maybe due to the growing awareness of self rule, nations, states and districts are facing divisions. The smallest clan, want to be independent. This tendency has e specially risen after the cold war, and the most powerful nation of this world, USA , is not able to escape this threat. Texas wants to secede from the USA, and become an independent state. Need essay sample on "World since 1945" topic? We will write a custom essay sample specifically for you Proceed A couple of groups are already functional, to wake up the Texans, and spread the independence movement. ( Texas secession facts ) The crux of the argument is that unrest among people against their respective rulers, is perhaps at a all time high than ever before in the human history. This makes the situation much more volatile and dangerous, than only two countries pointing guns towards each other during the cold war. The danger of war and ultimate destruction, has many more nuclei than just one. Technological advances are witnessed in every sphere of life, and lately the pace has been much faster. Research for destroying the enemy is reaching new heights, lately. Nuclear weapons have now become a story of the past, and perhaps redundant. The world is facing a threat of destruction by biological and chemical warfare. About 17 countries are considered to be having offensive biological programs.( McGovern T.W., Christopher G.W. ) Both these points prove that during the cold war, the possibility of explosion was centered around only one nucleus, in todays world, there are so many points from where collisions may erupt. The power to destroy has also increased many more times, than during the cold war. The world is much more volatile today. One more interesting fact is that during the cold war, there were only two opponents who were running a race. Today, many more countries have joined the race. India and China need a special mention here. Both countries have adapted themselves very well to the changing scenario post cold war, and are racing ahead to become economic super powers. A point of worry is that nuclear weaponry has become a childs play in the present scenario. Even countries like Korea and Pakistan have been successful in arming themselves with nuclear weapons. During the cold war, only two nations were competing each other, now many major have joined the competition. Each one of them is well equipped to destroy its enemy. In simple terms of physics, the potential for destruction is much more than it was during the cold war. In the end, let us take a look at what would have happened if collision had triggered off during the cold war. Either USA or the USSR would have been the targets, unless the clash doesnt assume global proportions. Rest of the world would have remained unaffected. However, in the post cold war period, it is not so. If collisions were not stopped by mediation of third parties, the post cold war period would have already seen the deadliest of wars, at many places in the world. However, humanity will never forget the misery of the two world wars. Institutions like the UN, have been helpful in the past in avoiding crisis blowing up into full fledged wars and one can hope that it will be continuing to do so in future also. It is doubtless that in the event of any untoward happening, the destruction will be of much higher scale than it would have been during the cold war. Human Nature in Macbeth Essays
Human Nature in Macbeth Essays Human Nature in Macbeth Essay Human Nature in Macbeth Essay Macbeth is a play that examines human nature. During the play there is a significant amount of emphasis on the different attributes and sides of human nature. The play demonstrates that everyone has the ability to do good or evil by what choices they make and what the ramifications of these actions are, decisions are made that affect the outcome of a personââ¬â¢s future. Macbeth is a prime example of the human nature in its very worst form. Throughout the play, Macbeth experience somewhat of a fall from grace. Macbethââ¬â¢s greed and poor decision making caused him to lose everything he had worked so hard for. He became engulfed in greed and would stop at nothing to gain what he believed was rightly his. He went from somebody who was a strong courageous and well respected man who was an honourable warrior for Scotland. To someone who was so blinded by his hunger for power it drove him to incredible lengths such as killing his own cousin and best friend, to receive what was promised him by the witches. Macbethââ¬â¢s disloyalty is a huge flaw in his character and part of his human nature. He murdered his long-time friend and king, Duncan. He had no remorse for his actions, he was only concerned for his own safety that he wouldnââ¬â¢t get caught. ââ¬Å"The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or hell. â⬠(act 2, scene 1) Shakespeare uses the character of Macbeth to demonstrate to his audience that the decisions we make and the actions we take can easily be affected by simple aspects of human nature such as greed, this hunger for power that some people seem to possess and that we can so easily be manipulated by others to do wrong. Lady Macbeth is very manipulative towards her husband, by questioning his manhood, emotionally blackmailing him she brings out his pride to do as she desires. ââ¬Å"When you durst do it, then you were a man; And, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man. â⬠(act 1, scene 7) She plays on the weakest parts of Macbethââ¬â¢s character to manipulate him. ââ¬Å"We will proceed no further in this business. â⬠(act 1, scene 7) This shows that Macbeth was set to not kill Duncan but Lady Macbeth manipulated him to change this mindset. So if were not for Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s toying and manipulation of Macbeth he would still be the honourable man he once was. Throughout Macbeth, Shakespeare uses his main Characters, particularly Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to show the very worst of human nature and tried to show his audience and anyone to read the play in the years to come that our choices and actions can be easily influenced by others and that everything we do, particularly bad things have serious ramifications, in Macbeths case, The total destruction of himself, his wife and his country.

Family Counseling Approach Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words
Family Counseling Approach - Research Paper Example paid closer attention to some of the details and this allowed them to evolve the concept of the family into a more descriptive entity where strong supportive bonds and long-term roles and relationship help people build their lives around (Goldenberg & Goldenberg, 2013). These relationships may or may not be even by blood or by marriage but the fact that they count in the overall organization of the family makes them essential. The report herein will look at one of the many approaches that were developed as a way of dealing with this context and its point of view delved into to help understand its principles and theorems. This approach is the Bowen family systems approach or the intergenerational approach. Coined by psychiatrist Murray Bowen, this theory views the family as an emotional unit and utilizes the symbolism of a systemsââ¬â¢ thinking to describe the intricacy of the interactions therein. As a family, connections are very intense and mostly border on the emotional perspective. Family members are profoundly attached to the otherââ¬â¢s thoughts actions and even feelings naturally making it seem like they are one and the same thing. It is at the family level that children grow learning some of the basic attribute such as love, belongingness, need for attention and approval, and the way people react and support each otherââ¬â¢s expectations and needs and how the lack of these may affect their growth later on in life (brown, 1999). However, when some of these are lacking, the child may not understand and will grow thinking that they way they are was meant to be. Their interactions create emotional interdependence which is presumed to be a significant factor in the promot ion of cohesiveness and cooperation in the family. It is expected that the family is the only unit that is supposed to provide all the basic requirements such as shelter, clothing and food as well as protection for its members (Guerin et al., 1996). Despite these expectations, any heightened

Unemployment Rates in the United States and Japan from 2010 to 2014 Research Paper
Unemployment Rates in the United States and Japan from 2010 to 2014 - Research Paper Example In America, the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics defines an unemployed person as someone who does not have a job and has actively searched for work in the recent times, as well as currently being available for work. Proceeding further, Remer (22) asserts that people who are not in the labor force are not considered as employed or unemployed. In this regard, the labor force comprises of both the employed along with the unemployed. Anderton (11) affirms that people who are not in the labor force are either in school or retired. In the U.S, Walton, and Hugh notes that the rate of unemployment rates rose through the years to peak in 2010 at 10.9 percent before commencing to fall to 5.8 percent as of November 2014. Between 2010 and 2014, the rate of unemployment has been on a downward trend. As of November 2014, the unemployment rate was 5.8 percent and the number of the unemployed people was 9.1 million. Amongst the major workgroups, the rate of unemployment for the adult men increased to 5.4 percent, adult women 5.3 percent, teenagers 17.7 percent, blacks 11 percent, whites 4.9 percent, and the Hispanics 6.5 percent, as well as 4.8 percent among the Asians. Following this further, the number of the long-term unemployed was 28 million. These people accounted for 30.7 percent of the unemployed population. However, from 2010 to 2014, the number of the unemployed has reduced by 1.2 million. The number of individuals employed part-time for economic reasons was 6.9 million and these people would have preferred full-time employment.

The Habit Of Identity :: essays research papers
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/vaksam/">Sam Vaknin's Psychology, Philosophy, Economics and Foreign Affairs Web Sites In a famous experiment, students were asked to take a lemon home and to get used to it. Three days later, they were able to single out ââ¬Å"theirâ⬠lemon from a pile of rather similar ones. They seemed to have bonded. Is this the true meaning of love, bonding, coupling? Do we simply get used to other human beings, pets, or objects? Habit forming in humans is reflexive. We change ourselves and our environment in order to attain maximum comfort and well being. It is the effort that goes into these adaptive processes that forms a habit. The habit is intended to prevent us from constant experimenting and risk taking. The greater our well being, the better we function and the longer we survive. Actually, when we get used to something or to someone ââ¬â we get used to ourselves. In the object of the habit we see a part of our history, all the time and effort that we put into it. It is an encapsulated version of our acts, intentions, emotions and reactions. It is a mirror reflecting back at us that part in us, which formed the habit. Hence, the feeling of comfort: we really feel comfortable with our own selves through the agency of the object of our habit. Because of this, we tend to confuse habits with identity. If asked WHO they are, most people will resort to describing their habits. They will relate to their work, their loved ones, their pets, their hobbies, or their material possessions. Yet, all of these cannot constitute part of an identity because their removal does not change the identity that we are seeking to establish when we enquire WHO someone is. They are habits and they make the respondent comfortable and relaxed. But they are not part of his identity in the truest, deepest sense. Still, it is this simple mechanism of deception that binds people together. A mother feels that her off spring are part of her identity because she is so used to them that her well being depends on their existence and availability. Thus, any threat to her children is interpreted to mean a threat on her Self. Her reaction is, therefore, strong and enduring and can be recurrently elicited. The truth, of course, is that her children ARE a part of her identity in a superficial manner.

Punctuality and Time Essay
Punctuality is being on time or completing something on time. The main thing is time management. Time management is exercising control over the amount of time spent on activities or it is used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks or goals. With this u can break time management it to categories like Time discipline adding a time limit and the Value of time. Time discipline is the act of planning out time to do something and then sticking to the time u have set to do it or someone else has set for u to do and complete it in that set time. Time discipline can also be using your time wisely and not waiting till the last moment to do it. But allotting time and doing it in that time so youââ¬â¢re not rushed and so u make fewer mistakes on it or no mistakes. Using your time in a manner where u have the time need to finish the task and either turn it in or come back and relay that the task is done to whoever gave u that task that u had just finished. Setting a time limit a time limit or deadline is a narrow field of time, or particular point in time, by which an objective or task must be accomplished. In project management, deadlines are most often associated with easily obtained goals. Setting a time limit and keeping it is a need tool everyone needs to work and function in every day society. Because if u donââ¬â¢t u wonââ¬â¢t be able to hold and keep a job because how can your boss count on you to do and get done with what he/she needs for you to do but I kind of got of topic. Punctuality is the habit of doing things exactly in time. A punctual person will be a winner everywhere. A punctual person is always one step ahead of others. Often we say plan work and work plan. But if you are not stick on your work promptly, punctually, how can you become a better person I your life? Punctuality is essential for man in every walk of life. For students it is a great blessing. If you are punctual you will get enough time to do your work according to your plan. In hospitals, punctuality can make all the difference, of course between life and death. You never face any difficulty so far as time is concerned. You command respect and admiration of all who work with you and are an asset. Everybody likes to work with you such a lovely man. On the contrary an unpunctual man sees himself in arrears as days pass and is gradually filled with despair. He generally causes inconvenience to others and is most of the time a liability. Punctuality is inevitable everywhere. In business also this is very important. If you want to be a successful businessman, you have to be very particular in being punctual. The failure to keep up an engagement punctually may mean a setback for his business. If you are not punctual, you can see your washes away between your cup and lip! If we study the lives of our great men, we find that punctuality was one of the secrets of their success in life. The necessity of doing our work punctually should be felt more keenly because we live today in a complicated society where each work is dependent on the other. The smooth working of the modern world is due to an increasing recognition of the necessity of doing our work punctually. Punctuality being so important in life, it is necessary for every man to cultivate this habit from the very beginning. Once we are punctual, our labours will be lightened, our mind disciplined and our life will be much easier and brighter. so I guess what Iââ¬â¢m saying is if we be punctual, we can finish up our work at right time. Punctuality checks unnecessary wastage of time. Time is very valuable for us. We can save it only by punctuality. Time and tide wait for none. Seconds, minutes, hours and days pass by in right order. There is a maxim ââ¬Å"We should hold the time by the forelockâ⬠. If we be punctual, a single second of us will never go waste. The English men are very punctual. They put on wrist-watches to exercise punctuality. But we, the Indian put on wrist-watches only as ornaments for show. We cannot progress. If we are not punctual. Punctuality helps us in our progress. It also saves money in other ways. There is a saying. ââ¬Å"A stitch in time saves nineâ⬠. So, if we take our food punctually, we will never be sick and so we will never have to spend money on medicines and doctors or to worry our near and dear ones in this connection. Everybody should be punctual in his everyday life. Every one should make a habit of punctuality. The people who have become great in their lives are very punctual. Punctuality is the first condition for becoming great in life. So, punctuality should be the motto in our life. We should not only be punctual ourselves but also advise others to be punctual. But when it comes to the military, certain things are just automatically expected of a person. One of the most important expectations is time management and being on time. Every day there are any number of places one is required to be at a certain time and as the saying goes if you arenââ¬â¢t fifteen minutes early then you are late. One may ask, why fifteen minutes though it may seem Extreme, when dealing with the numbers of people that are dealt with in the armed forces, allowances must be made for the unexpected. There will always be unexpected complications to arise; it is just part of life that is why you canââ¬â¢t simply try to be on time because what happens when something does come up? There is no cushion of time for you to adjust however needed to take care of whatever came up. Just one person being late can begin a chain of events to be set back and throw any number of peopleââ¬â¢s days off schedule. Say you have an appointment for an eye exam and you are five minutes late. Well that is five minutes that the eye doctor had to wait on one person instead of moving on. The person whoââ¬â¢s appointment is after yours is then forced to wait five minutes past when his or her appointment was supposed to begin which could in turn make that person five minutes late to pick up his or her child from school. One person can make that much of a splash just by being late, which is why the military is expected to the punctual. Honor is defined as honesty, fairness, or integrity in ones beliefs and actions. When it comes to being on time one should have the sense to be fair to his or her shipmates not being late and wasting their time. A person being frequently late shows that that person does not respect his or her fellows enough to not keep them waiting on a regular basis.
